From jammers to AI surveillance: NTA all set for high-stakes NEET re-test today
PTC News Desk: More than 22 lakh students will take the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, with authorities implementing extraordinary security measures to ensure a fair and transparent process following the controversy surrounding the earlier exam.
To protect the credibility of India's biggest medical entrance test, the National Testing Agency has put in place one of the most comprehensive security arrangements ever seen for a national examination. The measures include biometric verification, strict frisking, signal jammers, extensive CCTV surveillance and real-time monitoring of examination centres.
More than 13.8 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed across exam centres to maintain continuous surveillance. Authorities have also enhanced cyber monitoring and intelligence-gathering efforts to identify suspicious activities, misinformation campaigns and attempts to spread fake exam-related content on social media before the test.
In a first for a nationwide entrance examination, Artificial Intelligence-based systems are being used to monitor CCTV footage from examination centres in real time. Additionally, the Indian Air Force has been enlisted to help securely transport confidential examination materials to sensitive locations, further strengthening the security framework around the examination.
The extensive arrangements reflect the authorities' determination to restore public trust in the examination process and ensure that the re-test is conducted smoothly and securely.
