'Gholu 2': Iconic buffalo sensation steals hearts at Bihar dairy expo
PTC Web Desk: Buffalo 'Gholu 2', valued at Rs 10 crore, has taken centre stage at Bihar's Dairy and Cattle Expo, drawing widespread attention. This buffalo, known for its remarkable lineage tracing back to its renowned grandfather Gholu-1, has gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
At just six years old, Gholu 2 has garnered immense praise, having sired 30,000 offspring thus far, with approximately 4,000 buffaloes impregnated monthly using its semen. Forecasts suggest that by the age of twenty-five, it could contribute semen to an estimated lakh of buffaloes.
Remarkably, its mother yields about 27 kg of milk, while the breed itself produces 20-21 litres of milk. Experts in animal husbandry from 11 different countries, including representatives from Brazil, the world's leading milk-producing nation, have acknowledged Gholu 2's exceptional qualities, bestowing awards from each of these nations.
The owner of this prodigious buffalo has been honoured with the Padma Shri award. With meticulous care, Gholu 2 receives regular massages with mustard oil, maintaining a lustrous and appealing appearance. Its sensitivity is evident as it expresses emotions through tears upon reuniting with its caretakers after a brief separation, highlighting the profound bond shared.
During transportation from Panipat to Patna, this cherished buffalo exhibited emotions, shedding tears upon the journey. It enjoys a comfortable lifestyle, residing in an air-conditioned room in Panipat and even has access to a TV, favouring the animal channel, where it responds by dancing in delight. Gholu 2 readily displays affection towards its caretakers and owner, showcasing its loving nature.
