PTC News Desk: A holiday trip to Uttarakhand turned tragic for a couple after a 27-year-old software engineer from Gurugram was found dead inside a homestay room on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road on Monday morning. By the time emergency responders reached the property, she had died.

The deceased identified as P Radha Gayatri was a software engineer employed with an information technology firm in Gurugram.

The circumstances surrounding her death have triggered a wave of questions with police recovering blood stains from her room prompting officers to direct videographed post-mortem by a panel of doctors.

According to police, Gayatri and her husband, Soumya Sricharan, had travelled from Delhi to Uttarakhand on June 13.

The newly married couple spent some time in Rishikesh before reaching a homestay in the Tipridhar area on the night of June 14. They checked into a room called "Bliss" at around 11:30 pm.

Police said the couple had got married on November 8, 2025, and both were from Visakhapatnam.

During questioning, the husband, Sricharan, told police that he and his wife consumed alcohol that night and went to bed around 3:30 am.

A few hours later, he woke up and found a shocking situation.

When investigators examined the room, they found bloodstains, including some on a bedsheet. The woman's body was lying on the floor. Police also recovered two empty liquor bottles and some food items from the room.

A forensic team visited the homestay and collected evidence for further analysis.

Police have not yet disclosed whether there were any signs of a struggle or violence, and the exact cause of the woman's death remains unknown. Investigators are continuing to examine the evidence.
