NEET-UG paper leak case: Court allows accused Yash Yadav to take re-test from custody
PTC Web Desk: A Delhi court has permitted Yash Yadav, one of the accused in the NEET-UG paper leak case, to appear for the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination while remaining in judicial custody. The court observed that access to education is a fundamental right and should not be denied solely because an individual is facing criminal proceedings.
The order was passed after Yadav approached the court seeking 15 days of interim bail. He had requested temporary release to appear for the NEET-UG re-test scheduled on June 21 and to attend his sister's wedding. In addition, he sought permission to keep study materials with him to prepare for the examination.
While considering the plea, the court noted that the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the examination, had not objected to Yadav's participation in the re-test. The agency had also issued his admit card, indicating no procedural hurdle in allowing him to take the examination.
Instead of granting interim bail, the court allowed arrangements to be made for Yadav to sit for the examination under custody. It also permitted him access to books and other educational material required for preparation.
