Haryana govt denies permission for Braj Mandal Shobha Yatra on Aug 28, Sec 144 imposed in Nuh
Section 144 imposed in Nuh: Haryana government, led by Manohar Lal Khattar has denied permission to hold the Braj Mandal Shobha Yatra in Nuh, and that section 144 had been imposed in the district.
Dhirendra Khadgata, Nuh Deputy Commissioner, said, "We have denied permission for the yatra (Braj Mandal Shobha Yatra). Nonetheless, some have stated that they will carry out the yatra. Section 144 has been implemented."
Haryana Police announced on Saturday that internet services in Nuh district have been suspended till August 28.
"As a preventive measure, internet services have been suspended in Nuh from 12 noon on August 26 up to 11:59 pm on August 28," said an official statement.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad earlier stated that a Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra will be held on August 28 in Nuh.
However, Haryana government officials have denied permission for the Yatra, citing local police and intelligence agencies' concerns about disruption of law and order.
Earlier, Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur presided over a video conference meeting with senior police officers from neighbouring states, calling for a concerted effort to properly deal with the situation.
The meeting was attended by the senior police officers of the states of Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Union Territory of Chandigarh, Kapur.
During the meeting, Kapur stated that the Nuh administration has denied permission to the organizers of the Yatra in light of the G20 Sherpa group meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Nuh from September 3 to 7 and to maintain law and order in the aftermath of the July 31, 2023 violence.
"Even though permission has been denied to hold Jal Abhishek Yatra, there are inputs that certain organizations have invited people from Haryana and other neighbouring States to reach Nuh on August 28," DGP added.
