Haryana: SUV attempts to ram IAS officer's car during illegal mining inspection
PTC News Desk: In Haryana, an alarming incident occurred when a suspicious SUV allegedly made deliberate attempts to ram into the vehicle of Naraingarh sub-divisional magistrate Yash Jaluka as he patrolled the area to inspect potential illegal mining activities. According to officials, the SUV pursued Jaluka's car, making two dangerous attempts to collide with it at significant speed.
Fortunately, Jaluka managed to evade the collision narrowly, averting potential disaster. It is reported that the occupants of the SUV, suspected to have connections with the mining underworld, fled the scene following the incident.
The alarming encounter unfolded at 1 am on the night spanning March 27 and 28. An FIR was promptly filed in response to the incident, highlighting its severity and the urgency of the situation. Authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness, recognising the potential threat posed by those involved in illegal mining activities.
Notably, recent efforts have been underway to crackdown on illegal mining in the rivers of the Naraingarh area. These inspections and raids indicate a concerted effort by law enforcement to curb illicit activities and preserve environmental integrity.
In response to the security guard's complaint, Naraingarh Police initiated legal proceedings by registering a case against the owner and driver of the suspicious SUV. Charges filed include obstruction of government work and attempted murder, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This underscores the gravity of the offense and the determination to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
Yash Jaluka, aged 29 and a 2021-batch IAS officer, currently serves as the SDM of Naraingarh in Ambala district. His dedication to upholding the law and safeguarding public interests is commendable, especially in the face of such brazen attempts to undermine authority and endanger lives.
The First Information Report (FIR) outlines the sequence of events involving SDM Yash Jaluka, his security personnel, and three others, including their driver, during a patrol operation in their private vehicle.
As per the FIR, filed by constable Jasbir Singh, who serves as the PSO of SDM Jaluka, the incident occurred as they embarked on an inspection mission to scrutinise illegal mining activities in the vicinity. According to a report by The Indian Express, Jaluka, accompanied by local tehsildar Abhishek Pilania, set out from his residence in Naraingarh around 1 am on March 28.
The FIR narrates that while attempting to halt an SUV near the bridge of Toka Sahib Gurudwara village, the occupants of the SUV made deliberate maneuvers to collide with their vehicle at a significant speed, endangering their lives, before hastily escaping from the scene.

Constable Jasbir Singh, quoted by The Indian Express, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that an Innova car began tailing their vehicle. When they signaled the Innova to stop, the driver of the SUV purportedly made repeated attempts to ram into the SDM's vehicle. Despite efforts to apprehend the driver, he persistently aimed his vehicle towards them, prompting a pursuit by the officers.
The incident draws parallels with previous incidents of aggression against law enforcement officials tackling illegal mining activities in the region. Notably, nearly two years ago, a deputy superintendent of police-level officer, Surender Singh, was allegedly fatally struck by a dumper truck during a raid against illegal stone mining in Nuh district.
Additionally, just over a year ago, members of the suspected mining mafia reportedly assaulted a police team in Panipat's Bapoli area, underscoring the risks faced by authorities combating illicit mining operations.
