PTC News Desk: Security agencies have issued a high alert in Delhi and Uttarakhand following a possible terror threat linked to Khalistani elements. As a precaution, security has been tightened around important religious places, government offices, railway stations and police establishments.

According to intelligence sources, the alert was issued after an email warning of possible attacks in the coming days was received. The email reportedly mentioned several temples in Delhi and Uttarakhand, along with government buildings, railway stations and police facilities as potential targets. It also allegedly referred to certain political leaders, increasing concerns among security agencies.

The threat comes amid recent tensions in Uttarakhand involving a group of Nihang Sikhs. Earlier this month, a standoff took place at a gurdwara in Nagrasu, located in Rudraprayag district, where Nihangs were demanding the release of four members arrested after a clash with local residents in Karnaprayag on June 16. The standoff ended on June 23 after discussions involving a Sikh delegation.

Later, on the night of June 25, another group of Nihang Sikhs entered Uttarakhand through the Kulhal border in Dehradun district, seeking the release of the arrested men. Officials persuaded them to return to Paonta Sahib. The four arrested Nihangs were subsequently granted bail by a district and sessions court on Saturday.

Following the latest threat alert, the Delhi Police, Uttarakhand Police and central intelligence agencies have increased surveillance and reviewed security arrangements at sensitive and crowded locations. Authorities have said the enhanced security measures are precautionary and are aimed at ensuring public safety while investigations into the threat continue.
