PTC News Desk: Torrential rains lashed Mandi district early Tuesday, setting off landslides and flash floods that caused widespread destruction. Three people remain missing, while two were rescued with critical injuries. Both victims are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

In Bragta village, under Boe panchayat in Nihri tehsil of Sundernagar subdivision, a massive landslide struck a residential home, trapping five family members. Villagers managed to pull out two survivors, but the search continues for the other three with the help of police and disaster response teams. The rescue operation, however, is being hindered by ongoing rainfall and unstable terrain.

Separately, a flash flood swept through the Dharampur market area late Monday night, inundating the main bus stand and nearby shops. The floodwaters destroyed public infrastructure and private property, washed away several Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses, and damaged numerous vehicles. One person has been reported missing in this incident, and search operations are underway.

Local shopkeepers and residents reported heavy financial losses as water surged into shops, destroying stock and infrastructure. Early estimates put the losses in crores.

Dharampur SDM Joginder Patiyal confirmed the extent of the disaster, noting severe damage to the bus stand area, significant losses to shops, and the destruction of several HRTC buses. He added that a detailed assessment of the damage is still in progress.
