Kapil Sharma's security increased after 2 shooting incidents at Canada cafe, threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang
PTC Web Desk: The Mumbai Police have stepped up security for actor-comedian Kapil Sharma following two shooting incidents at his cafe in Canada and threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over his association with actor Salman Khan. The most recent incident occurred on Friday in Surrey, Canada, when Kapil Sharma’s newly opened Kap’s Café was targeted for the second time this month.
A video circulating on social media captured at least 25 gunshots during the attack. In the clip, a voice is heard saying, “We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.”
Two gangs—one led by Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and the other by Lawrence Bishnoi—claimed responsibility for the attack through social media posts. The first shooting took place on July 10, when several staff members were inside the cafe. Though no one was injured, investigators found at least 10 bullet holes in one of the windows, while another pane was completely shattered.
A day after the August 8 shooting, an audio clip surfaced in which Harry Boxer, a member of Bishnoi’s network, issued a warning to the film industry. He threatened that any actor, producer, or director working with Salman Khan would be targeted, including small-time filmmakers.
The threats follow Salman Khan’s appearance in the inaugural episode of the third season of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' on Netflix, which premiered on June 21.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has repeatedly targeted Salman Khan since the 1998 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' blackbuck poaching case in Jodhpur, citing the Bishnoi community’s reverence for the animal. The actor has been under heightened security since a firing incident outside his Mumbai home on April 14 last year.
