Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi summoned by Delhi court on Feb 9 for land-for-job scam

PTC News Desk: A Delhi court has summoned Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Dev, their daughter Hema Yadav, and others to appear on February 9 in connection with the alleged land-for-job scam.

In a hearing earlier on the same day, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi acknowledged the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering probe related to the alleged land-for-jobs scam involving Lalu Yadav and his family members.

The ED's chargesheet names Rabri Devi, Hema Yadav, Misa Bharti, Amit Katyali, Hridayanand Chaudhary, and others in the case. The court took cognisance of the chargesheet, highlighting the presence of sufficient material to warrant action. Amit Katyali, an alleged close aide of the Yadav family, and former railway employee Hridayanand Chaudhary have also been summoned for the same date.

During a hearing earlier in the month, the ED informed the court that the "string was in the hands of the main accused in the CBI offence, Lalu Yadav, and his family."

The recent summons coincide with a political crisis in Bihar, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reportedly aiming to sever ties with the RJD and form a new government with the support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The ED alleged, "Land parcels have been bought. In 2014, this company was transferred under the names of Rabri Devi and (Bihar Deputy Chief Minister) Tejashwi Yadav." The accusations against Rabri Devi pertain to three land parcels, Hema Yadav to two parcels, and Misa Bharti to one.

The probe agency further claimed that Rs 50 lakhs were infused into AB export through Tejashwi Yadav. The alleged scam involves the appointment of several individuals to Group "D" positions in various zones of the Indian Railways between 2004 and 2009. Instead of occupying the designated positions, these individuals purportedly transferred their land to the family members of Lalu Yadav and a connected company named AK Infosystems Private Limited.
