Manipur police commandos disarm following officer's abduction

PTC News Desk: In a symbolic demonstration of protest, Manipur Police Commando personnel have chosen to lay down their arms following the recent abduction of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) M Amit from his residence in Imphal West.

The abduction, purportedly orchestrated by an armed group known as the Meitei vigilante group Arambai Tenggol, unfolded when approximately 200 assailants raided the senior officer's home. ASP Amit, along with one of his colleagues, was forcefully taken captive.


Despite the swift deployment of additional security forces, the assailants managed to carry out the abduction, sparking a tense standoff situation. Nevertheless, within hours, security forces succeeded in rescuing ASP Amit and his colleague from captivity.

According to police reports, the armed individuals besieged Moirangthem's residence in Imphal West, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire and wreaking havoc on the property. Prompt intervention by security forces was initiated upon receiving reports of the incident.
