NIA arrests gangster Anmol Bishnoi after deportation from US
PTC Web Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Anmol Bishnoi, brother and close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States to India.
Wanted since 2022, US-based Anmol Bishnoi became the 19th accused to be arrested in connection with the terror-gangster syndicate led by Lawrence Bishnoi. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against him in March 2023 after investigations confirmed his involvement in aiding designated individual terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in multiple terror-related activities carried out between 2020 and 2023.
According to the agency, Anmol Bishnoi played a key role in coordinating the operations of the Bishnoi gang from abroad. Despite being in the US, he allegedly facilitated terror conspiracies by providing shelter and logistical support to shooters and ground operatives associated with the gang. Investigators also found that he was involved in extortion activities in India with the support of other gangsters operating from overseas.
The NIA is continuing its probe in case RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI, which focuses on the terror-gangster conspiracy network led by Lawrence Bishnoi. The agency said it remains committed to dismantling the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and arms smugglers, along with their support infrastructure and funding channels.
