No melodrama: Delhi High Court raps Karishma Kapoor's children over 'unpaid fees' complaint
PTC News Desk: The Delhi High Court on Friday urged everyone to stay calm during a hearing where Karisma Kapoor’s children are in a dispute with their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, over the estate of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur. The judge intervened when Karisma’s daughter complained that her college fees in the US had not been paid for two months, which led to arguments between the lawyers.
The judge said she did not want the issue of unpaid fees to come up again and asked Priya’s lawyer to ensure this matter was settled.
Senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the children, said their education costs were clearly the responsibility of the estate as per the divorce agreement, and that Priya was in charge of the children’s assets, so she should be accountable. But Priya’s lawyer denied this, saying all the children’s expenses had already been paid and that the unpaid-fees claim was being made only for publicity.
The main dispute is over an interim order the children are seeking to stop Priya from using or managing Sunjay Kapur’s assets. In their main case, they accuse Priya—Sunjay’s third wife—of forging his will to take over the entire estate. The will, dated March 21, 2025, reportedly leaves all his personal assets to Priya.
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married from 2003 to 2016 and have two children together. Sunjay married Priya later. The High Court will hear the case again on November 19 and has indicated it wants to finish arguments on the interim order soon.
