Operation Shield: India to conduct mock drills in J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana & Chandigarh on May 31
PTC Web Desk: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, has announced the conduct of the 2nd Civil Defence Exercise "Operation Shield" on May 31 across all districts of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, and Chandigarh, located along the country’s western border. The exercise, which was initially scheduled for May 29, has been deferred by two days to ensure better preparedness and coordination.
The decision to conduct the exercise comes as part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to strengthen civil defence readiness in strategically sensitive regions. The operation is being organised by the Directorate General of Civil Defence under the MHA, following critical insights gained during the first civil defence exercise held on May 7.
Notably, the exercise is intended to enhance coordination between local administration, defence forces, and community volunteers, ensuring a swift and effective response in the event of a real emergency.
