Parag Jain appointed new R&AW chief | Who is Punjab-cadre officer who played key role during Operation Sindoor ?
PTC News Desk: Parag Jain a 1989-batch IPS officer from Punjab cadre has been appointed new R&AW chief. He will succeed Ravi Sinha who is set to complete his tenure on June 30.
Parag Jain is slated to assume office on July 1 for a fixed two-year term.
Jain is known for his crucial role in the high-stakes Operation Sindoor that ensued after the deadly Pahalgam attack which claimed 26 lives. Currently he is heading the Aviation Research Centre of R&AW, which oversees aerial surveillance and related operations.
His career includes significant operational contributions during the height of terrorism in Punjab, where he served as SSP and Deputy Inspector General of Police in various districts.
Within the intelligency agency, Jain has served extensivly handled the Pakistan desk with tenures in Jammu and Kashmir during the abrogation of Article 370, the officials said.
He has also been posted to Indian missions in Sri Lanka and Canada. During his tenure in Canada, he closely supervised terror modules operating from overseas.
