Parliament security breach: 'Better to die than face joblessness', Neelam's mother recalls daughter's words

PTC Web Desk: In a startling occurrence marking the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, a student from Hisar, Haryana, named Neelam, was detained outside Parliament for her involvement in releasing colour smoke canisters, breaching security protocols. Amidst this troubling event, Neelam's mother from Jind, Haryana, revealed poignant details about her daughter's distress over unemployment.

Neelam, a student unaffiliated with any political party according to her brother Ramniwas, was one of two persons involved in throwing smoke canisters outside the Parliament building. Her actions have sparked inquiries into her motivations, shedding light on the complexities faced by the youth in the face of job scarcity and its psychological toll.

Expressing concern about her daughter's plight, Neelam's mother said, "She was worried about unemployment...I had spoken with her, but she never told me anything about Delhi. She used to tell me that she is so highly qualified, but has no job, so it is better to die."

This incident has raised profound questions about the challenges of youth unemployment and its potential impact on mental health, prompting a closer examination of the societal implications and the underlying causes that may lead to such distressing actions.
