Passengers on Air India Delhi-Mumbai flight face 17-hour ordeal!
PTC Web Desk: A passenger on an Air India flight (name withheld) from Delhi to Mumbai, who remained stuck inside the aircraft, has highlighted several factors that fueled frustration among passengers. This incident occurred following widespread flight cancellations by several airlines due to low visibility in New Delhi, as per reports in NDTV.
Sharing her ordeal with NDTV, the woman passenger shared the reasons that led to the passengers' growing discontent. She said it had become quite difficult to deal with restless children. Besides, lack of food and non-functional air-conditioning during the extended delay further angered the passengers.
As per information, the scheduled take-off for the Air India Delhi-Mumbai flight was at 9 am, and given the prevailing weather conditions, a delay was anticipated. However, she alleged that the airline kept on providing conflicting information. By 2 pm, when the aircraft was ready, passengers were informed that the crew assigned to the flight had been redirected to another one. This led to a chaotic situation, with passengers experiencing uncertainty and confusion.
The passenger said the airline finally secured a new crew around 5.30 pm, boarding commenced around 8 pm. To further exacerbate the situation, there was a notable absence of a pilot. She placed blame on the management, citing it as a case of mismanagement rather than the fault of ground staff or crew members.
The lack of food provision during the 17-hour ordeal added to the passengers' distress. She said only packets of chips were made available, further emphasising the inadequate arrangements made by the airline to address the needs of the passengers during the extended wait.
The passenger alleged that the airline failed to value its customers and neglected to keep them adequately informed.
