Prime Minister Modi chairs key meeting with Cabinet after his State visits to US, Egypt

New Delhi, June 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who landed in Delhi last night after ending official visits to the United States and Egypt, presided over a cabinet meeting in the national capital on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Hardeep Singh Puri, as well as senior officials.


Earlier in the day, Amit Shah met with Prime Minister Modi and updated him on the situation in Manipur.

On Sunday, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh updated Shah on the "evolving situation" in the state, saying the state and central governments had been able to keep the violence under control to a "great extent."

Amit Shah convened an all-party meeting on Saturday to review the current situation in Manipur.

The meeting presided over by the Union Home Minister, was called to assess the situation in the violence-plagued state. Among those present were BJP national president JP Nadda, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, and CPI(M) MP John Brittas.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Delhi early Monday after a six-day state visit to the United States and Egypt.

PM Modi was greeted at the Palam airport by BJP national President JP Nadda, Union Minister of State Meenakashi Lekhi, and a number of party MPs, including Hans Raj Hans and Gautam Gambhir.
