Professor held for 'sexual assault' on Delhi-Mumbai flight

Mumbai, July 28:  A 47-year-old professor, identified as Rohit Shrivastav, has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman doctor on a Delhi-Mumbai flight of IndiGo airlines , officials said on Friday. The incident came to the fore on Wednesday.

According to the police, both victim (24) and the accused were seated beside each other on the flight that departed from Delhi at 5:30 am. 


In her complaint, the woman doctor alleged that the accused touched her inappropriately shortly before the flight was scheduled to land at the Mumbai airport.

Following an argument between the two passengers, the victim reported the incident to the flight's crew, which promptly intervened. Upon landing at the Mumbai airport, both individuals proceeded to the Sahar police station, said the police.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, the police registered a case of sexual harassment against the professor, resulting in his arrest. Subsequently, he was presented before a court, where he was granted bail. The investigation is ongoing, says the police.
