A discussion on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government began in the Lok Sabha with Gogoi initiating the debate.
"PM will have to accept that his double-engine government, his government in Manipur has failed. That is why 150 people died in Manipur, around 5000 houses were torched, around 60,000 people are in relief camps and around 6500 FIRs have been registered," Gogoi said.

On Monday, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) in Jammu and Kashmir initiated a fresh investigation into the 1989 murder of retired judge Neelkanth Ganjoo, marking a significant step towards seeking justice for the long-standing case.
A portion of Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple near River Tamsa collapsed following heavy rains since Monday night in the Dehradun district. "Amidst heavy downpours since the previous night, a part of the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple near River Tamsa collapsed and caused a lot of damage to the temple property," said the founder of the temple, Acharya Bipin Joshi on Tuesday.
Haryana Roadways on Tuesday resumed its bus services on a routine basis from Nuh district, an official said.

New Delhi, August 08: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, having his parliamentary membership restored, will kick off the Lok Sabha's no-confidence motion discussion on Tuesday. The three-day debate will be centered around the issues in Manipur. A meeting of INDIA party's floor leaders will be held at 10 am in the Parliament to strategize for the crucial discussion.
The no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led NDA government was accepted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after being moved by the opposition parties of the I.N.D.I.A bloc. The discussion will be allotted a total of 12 hours, with the BJP receiving around seven hours and the Congress party getting around one hour 15 minutes. Other parties and independent MPs will have 1 hour 10 minutes for their participation.
The debate is scheduled to take place on August 8 and 9, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to respond on August 10.

In addition to the no-confidence motion discussion, the Rajya Sabha will see Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh moving the Interservices Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023, for consideration and passage. The bill aims to empower the Commander-in-Chief or the Officer-in-Command of Inter-services Organisations concerning service personnel subject to the Air Force Act, 1950, the Army Act, 1950, and the Navy Act, 1957.
Furthermore, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will present the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage. The bill seeks to amend the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017.
The parliamentary session will also witness various statements and reports being presented, including the Seventh Report of the Committee on Empowerment of Women (2022-23) on the subject 'Health Facilities for Tribal Women' by Jasbir Singh Gill, and reports on 'Demands for Grants 2023-24 of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education' by Dharambir Singh and Ratansinh Magansinh Rathod.
Additionally, Krishan Pal will make statements on the status of implementation of recommendations from various reports pertaining to the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
