Rajasthan woman Impersonates police officer for 2 years, attends training at academy; arrested from Sikar

PTC Web Desk: A woman who impersonated a police sub-inspector and underwent nearly two years of training at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) has been arrested by the police. The accused, identified as Mona Bugalia alias Mooli, was apprehended earlier this week in Sikar district after being on the run since 2023.

According to officials, Mona Bugalia never cleared the Rajasthan Sub-Inspector recruitment exam but managed to infiltrate the state’s elite police training institution using forged documents. She falsely claimed selection under the sports quota and presented herself as a candidate from an earlier batch. For nearly two years, she attended training sessions, wore official police uniforms, and was often seen participating in parade drills and posing for photographs with senior officers.

The police recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, three police uniforms, fake ID documents, and confidential training material from her rented accommodation. Mona Bugalia originally hails from Nimba Ke Bas village in Nagaur district, and her father is a truck driver. After failing to qualify in the 2021 recruitment process, she assumed a new identity as “Mooli Devi” and shared fabricated selection news on social media.

She even managed to join a WhatsApp group exclusively meant for official sub-inspector recruits and regularly appeared at the RPA grounds. Videos and images on social media show her giving motivational speeches in police attire, sharing stage space with senior IPS officers, and creating reels in uniform.

The deception came to light when other trainees raised concerns about her credentials. An internal inquiry followed, leading to her eventual arrest. During interrogation, Bugalia confessed she wanted to impress her family, which includes four sisters, and gain influence through the illusion of being a police officer.

The police have initiated a probe into the lapse and how security protocols were bypassed for such an extended period.
