PTC Web Desk: The death of 24-year-old Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal Chaudhary has plunged her family into grief, with her brother Nikhil narrating disturbing details of the incident that allegedly led to her death.

Kajal died on January 27 after battling critical injuries for five days. She was allegedly assaulted by her husband, Ankur, at their residence in Mohan Garden on the night of January 22.

Recalling the night of the incident, Nikhil said he was on a phone call with his sister when a heated argument broke out between the couple. He claimed he could hear Kajal screaming during the call.

“Five minutes later, my brother-in-law called saying, ‘Mere hathon yeh mar gayi hai, aa jao ise lene’,” Nikhil alleged while speaking to the media.

According to the family, Kajal had been subjected to domestic abuse since the early days of her marriage, allegedly over dowry demands. Nikhil said Ankur’s parents and siblings repeatedly complained that the dowry was insufficient.

“Initially everything seemed normal, but later he too began behaving the same way,” he said.

Doctors informed the family that Kajal had sustained serious head injuries and was declared brain-dead. “The doctors told us that treatment was not possible,” Nikhil said.

Kajal was four months pregnant at the time of the assault. She had given birth to a son in 2024. The one-year-old child is currently living with Kajal’s parents.

Police officials said Kajal was allegedly beaten multiple times, including with a dumbbell, before Ankur took her to a private hospital. An attempt-to-murder case was initially registered at Mohan Garden police station. After Kajal’s death and the family’s complaint, charges of murder and dowry harassment were added.

Ankur has been arrested and sent to Tihar Jail. He works as a clerk with the Ministry of Defence and has been suspended from service.

Kajal joined the Delhi Police in 2022 and was serving with the Special Cell’s SWAT unit. The police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
