Telangana tops nation in anti-corruption; Kavitha expects 95-100 seats in upcoming Nov 30 polls

Hyderabad, October4 22: MLC K Kavitha expressed strong confidence in her party, BRS, returning to power, stating that they have set a target to win between 95 and 100 seats in the upcoming Telangana assembly polls scheduled for November 30. In an exclusive interview with PTI, she also emphasized that according to a Central government survey, Telangana is the least corrupt state in the country.

Kavitha, in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's characterization of BRS as the BJP's "B-Team," questioned why the saffron party has suddenly gone "silent" on cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate against several leaders of the Congress, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul's mother.

"We are absolutely confident of coming back to power, 100 per cent confident. Because the people of Telangana are always with us, and we are always with them. We've achieved many things that no other state in this country has even dreamt of.

"Our target is to win between 95 and 100 seats. We will certainly come very close to that number. We are returning to power," she affirmed. Regarding Rahul Gandhi's corruption allegations against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's government, Kavitha insisted that the Gandhi scion should do his homework before campaigning in any state.

"Unfortunately, Rahul Gandhiji is not a leader. He simply reads out whatever scripts are handed to him. Officially, according to a Central government survey, Telangana is the least corrupt state in the entire nation," she said, rejecting the allegations.

Highlighting the achievements of the BRS government over the past 10 years, Kavitha, daughter of KCR, pointed out that in 2014, when Telangana was formed after separating from Andhra Pradesh, the state's budget was around Rs 69,000 crore. Now, it stands at nearly ₹3 lakh crore. The per capita income of the state has also increased from Rs 1.24 lakh in 2014 to ₹3.12 lakh.

Responding to Gandhi's promise that if Congress comes to power in Telangana, turmeric farmers will receive Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per quintal, the former Nizamabad MP called it the "joke of the century." She argued that the Congress, which had been in power for a long time, never provided a minimum support price for commercial crops.

Kavitha dismissed the allegations of BRS, BJP, and AIMIM collaborating, stating, "We are not in alliance with anyone. AIMIM is undoubtedly our friendly party, and it will continue to be so. We have never formed an alliance in the last two terms, and we won't in the upcoming elections either," she affirmed.
