State-level tennis player Radhika Yadav shot dead by father in Gurugram over social media reel
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old state-level tennis player, Radhika Yadav, was allegedly shot dead by her father at their residence in Gurugram on Thursday morning following a dispute related to a social media reel.
The tragic incident took place at 11.30 am on the first floor of their home. According to police officials, Radhika’s father, enraged over a video reel she had shared online, opened fire using his licensed revolver. The accused reportedly fired three rounds. Radhika, known for representing Haryana in several state-level tennis tournaments and hailed as a rising star in the local sports community, was immediately rushed to a private hospital by family members. However, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Sandeep Kumar, Public Relations Officer of the Gurugram Police, stated, “Preliminary investigation points to a conflict over a social media reel. The weapon used, a licensed revolver, has been recovered from the scene.”
Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 police station, added, “We were alerted by the hospital after the victim was admitted with gunshot wounds. By the time we reached, she had already passed away. Statements from relatives confirm the father’s role in the shooting.”
The police have registered a case of murder and are actively questioning family members and neighbours. Officials also confirmed that a forensic examination of the crime scene is underway and a psychological assessment of the accused will be conducted to determine his mental state at the time of the act.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
