PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against Samarth Singh and his mother Giribala Singh, the husband and mother-in-law of former actor-model Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12.

The CBI has invoked sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Dowry Prohibition Act in the chargesheet filed before a special court.

While Samarth is a lawyer, his mother Giribala is a former district judge. Both were arrested by the CBI after tit ook over the investigation into Twisha's death.

Twisha Sharma's death

Twisha, 33, married Samarth on December 9, 2025. She was found hanging at her marital home on May 12.

According to the FIR, Samarth took her to AIIMS Bhopal and told doctors that she had allegedly hanged herself at home around 10.20 pm. However, doctors declared her brought dead and informed the police, following which a medico-legal case was registered.

The case was first investigated by the local police before being taken over by the CBI. A second autopsy was later ordered by the Madhya Pradesh High Court after Twisha's family raised doubts about the first post-mortem conducted at AIIMS Bhopal and alleged lapses in the examination.

The second autopsy was conducted on May 24 by a four-member team from AIIMS Delhi in Bhopal.

Twisha's family alleged that she had been facing mental harassment and domestic violence from her in-laws, who were reportedly unhappy with the dowry given at the time of her marriage.

Her family claimed that the continued harassment and abuse pushed the former model and actor to take the extreme step.
