Two killed, several injured as speeding truck rams into crowd in Indore, driver arrested

PTC News Desk: At least two people were killed and several others injured after the driver of the truck lost control and rammed into a crowd at Ganpati Square in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. 


The incident triggered widespread chaos and panic when a motorcycle caught under the truck burst into flames, eventually setting the truck ablaze. The terrifying videos of the incident are doing rounds on social media. 

Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation, while the injured were shifted to hospitals for treatment.

Emergency services rushed the injured to nearby hospitals while senior police and administrative officials arriving at the scene to assess the situation. Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Amit Singh confirmed two fatalities, though the victims’ identities had not yet been determined. "The truck first hit a motorcycle before crashing into others," he said. “The driver has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed concern over the accident and directed the authorities to visit Indore and submit a detailed assessment. He further also called for an enquiry into the how a heavy vehicle managed to enter the city, where time is usually restricted to 11 pm. 

He also stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in the treatment process.
