Weather Update: Intense cold conditions grip Punjab, Haryana; fog-related mishaps increase
Fog-related mishaps increase in Punjab & Haryana: Biting cold gripped Punjab and Haryana while dense fog caused several accidents. As the temperature dropped to minus Celsius in several parts of Punjab, a dense layer of fog has engulfed the city, causing in-conveninance for commuters.
Dense fog gripped most parts of Punjab on Monday morning, reducing visibility on roads and posing a challenge for commuters.
Low visibility on roads has become a problem for bikers as well as pedestrians, increasing the chances of accidents in the city due to thick fog.
The cold wave has tightened its grip in north India with the national capital recording a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bathinda recording a low of 6 degrees Celsius and Patiala recording a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius. Amritsar and Ludhiana also had a cold night, with minimum temperatures of 6.2 degrees Celsius and 6.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Several people travelling in a Haryana roadways bus were injured after it collided with a trolley near Ashrafgarh Dauri village in the Jind district. Passengers on the bus said that the accident happened due to dense fog.
The bus driver and some other passengers were injured in the road accident. The Haryana Roadways bus was badly damaged in the accident.
Several injured in a tragic and horrible mishap wherein at least ten vehicles collided with each other due to dense fog on Kasba Beas Bridge located on Jalandhar-Amritsar highway. The accident occurred due to dense fog and bad weather conditions in Punjab.
In a separate incident, several injured as four vehicles collided with each other in Moga due to foggy weather. Firstly a trolley and a Bolero collided with each other, followed by two Innova cars who rammed into the Bolero.

In a dreadful and spine-chilling accident, motorcyclist killed and several injured as tempo and motorcycle collided with each other due to dense foggy conditions.
The meteorological department has forecast colder nights over the next couple of days as further fall in the minimum temperature is expected in Punjab and Haryana.
