Wrestlers seek impartial probe against Wrestling Federation chief in meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah

New Delhi, June 05: India's prominent wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Malikkh, Sangita Phogat, and Satyawart Kadian, met Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday to address their concerns regarding the chief of the country's wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers, who have been protesting against Singh, sought an impartial investigation and swift action against him amidst allegations of sexual harassment raised by seven female wrestlers, including a minor.

The meeting, held at Amit Shah's residence in Delhi, began at 11 pm and continued for over two hours. During the discussion, the wrestlers expressed their demand for a fair probe into the allegations against Singh. Amit Shah assured them that the law remains the same for everyone, indicating that appropriate action would be taken.

Sources reveal that the wrestlers had requested a meeting with Amit Shah following the expiration of their five-day deadline for action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Frustrated with what they perceived as a lack of attention given to their protests against Singh, the wrestlers had previously announced their intention to dispose of their medals in the Ganges River in Haridwar. However, this plan was temporarily suspended after intervention from farmer leader Naresh Tikait.

The wrestlers' meeting with the Home Minister signifies their determination to seek justice and accountability in the face of the serious allegations against the wrestling federation chief. Their demand for an impartial investigation highlights the need for a thorough examination of the accusations made by the female wrestlers.
