Farmers protest: While several sports personalities, artists, and politicians are returning their awards in protest against the farm laws 2020, the novelist Dr Jaswinder Singh has expressed solidarity with the farmers and returned his Bhartiya Sahitya Akademi Award. Amid farmers protest at Delhi borders against the farm laws 2020, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is all set to meet Amit Shah. While talking about his decision to return Bhartiya Sahitya Akademi Award, Dr. Jaswinder Singh said that "If a writer can’t present people’s voice then what’s the point? I didn’t start writing for awards." Farmers protest: In protest against the farm laws 2020, novelist Dr Jaswinder Singh returned his Bhartiya Sahitya Akademi Award. Earlier in the day, the former national boxing coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu announced that he will return his Dronacharya Award in support of farmers protesting against the farm laws 2020. On Thursday, the Shiromani Akali Dal stalwart, former Union Minister and five-time Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, returned the Padma Vibhushan award in protest against farm laws 2020. Punjab’s former sports personalities are upset over the Central Government's way of treating farmers and hence they have decided to return their national awards.
