Pakistan: Pilot dies after F-16 jet crashes during rehearsals for an air show in Islamabad

Pakistan F16 Jet Crash: A Pakistani fighter jet pilot died after F16 jet belonging to Pakistan Air Force crashed in Islamabad on Wednesday during rehearsals for the country's Republic Day parade, also known as Pakistan Day parade, which is scheduled to be held on March 23. As per the report, the fighter jet crashed in a jungle near the Shakarparian area, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said in a statement. The statement added that the plane was on a Pakistan Day parade when it crashed. Adding, it further said that the Pakistan Air Force has initiated an inquiry into the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, there were no casualties on the ground or damage to property. Likewise, the security forces have cordoned off the area where the jet was crashed. The smoke was rising from the crash spot and hence the rescue operations were initiated to contain the fire, the statement added. Pakistan Day or Pakistan Resolution Day, which also known as Republic Day, commemorates the Lahore Resolution which was passed on March 23, 1940, and the adoption of the first Constitution of Pakistan. It was made through the resolution passed by the All India Muslim League in Lahore. Meanwhile, an Air show by the Pakistan Air Force is an integral part of the Pakistan Day parade and its rehearsals are organized weeks ahead of the occasion. As per the tradition, a locally-made JF-17 Thunder and American F-16 feature prominently in the air show on parade day. -PTC News
