Patiala: 19,000 bags of wheat go missing from PUNSUP godown

Patiala, August 19: As many as 19,000 wheat bags have reportedly gone missing from a warehouse of PUNSUP in Patiala. The cost of the wheat bags is stated to be Rs 3 crore.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by PUNSUP district manager Amit Kumar, a case has been registered against in-charge of PUNSUP Patiala Centre-1 Gurinder Singh. According to the information, Punjab Inspector Gurinder Singh was put in charge o f Patiala Center-1 regarding the stock of the crop of 2020-21 and 2022-23. When the said stock of the crop was checked by the team of PUNSUP team, about 19 thousand bags of wheat were found to be missing, which indicates that the accused has committed an alleged scam of around 3 crore. Moreover, the alleged accused Gurinder Singh is absconding since 20th July 2022. Regarding this, DSP Gurdev Singh Dhaliwal of Sadar police station said that after the initial investigation of this case, the police has registered a case against PUNSUP Inspector Gurinder Singh and further inspection is underway.
