Plot allotment scam case: HC grants interim relief to ex-chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust
Chandigarh, September 20: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday granted interim relief to the former chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust, Raman Balasubramaniam in plot allotment scam case.
The High Court directed the police to give a notice seven days prior to the arrest and also asked Balasubramaniam to join the probe into the case.
Earlier, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau charged former Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) chairman Raman Balasubramanium and five other LIT officials with alleged corrupt practices in the selling of plots in Ludhiana.
According to reports, the VB discovered that LIT officials participated in corrupt practices and colluded with others to allot residential plots to unauthorised persons under the LDP scheme. Despite the fact that some of the allottees had already died, their plots were re-allotted by LIT officials to unauthorised persons violating prescribed rules and collected big bribes from the beneficiaries.
