AAP to attend Oppn meet in Bengaluru after Cong takes stand against Centre’s ordinance

PTC News Desk: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will take part in the meeting of like-minded parties in Bengaluru on July 17-18, said AAP MP Raghav Chadha.

The Congress is expecting around 24 "like-minded" parties to attend the gathering.

"Today, Congress party cleared its position against Delhi Ordinance," said AAP MP Raghav Chadha after attending the party's political affairs committee meeting at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence.

On Sunday, the AAP summoned a PAC meeting of the party.

The opposition meeting in Bengaluru is planned to unite the opposition in order to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming general elections in 2024.

Top leaders from at least 24 political parties are expected to attend Congress's second Opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru.

On June 23, a massive opposition meeting was held in Bihar's Patna.

The AAP asked Congress to clarify its stand on the central government's ordinance on the transfer and posting of group-A officers in Delhi.

Following the first Opposition meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that it would be "very difficult" for it to join any alliance that included the grand old party unless Congress publicly denounced the ordinance.

On Sunday, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that the party's position on the matter is "very clear," and that the party will oppose it in parliament.

"Congress' stand on this is very clear, we will oppose it," Venugopal said.
