AAP's Shelly Oberoi elected new Delhi mayor; know who is she
Delhi MCD new Mayor: Aam Aadmi Party's Shelly Oberoi has been elected the mayor of Delhi. Shelly Oberoi defeated BJP's Rekha Gupta by 34 votes.
She was previously an assistant professor at the University of Delhi. The councillor, 39, is also a lifetime member of the Indian Commerce Association (ICA). She has won numerous awards at various conferences.
Shelly received her PhD in philosophy from the School of Management Studies at Indira Gandhi National Open University. The councillor received both the Miss Kamla Rani Prize and a scholarship for having the highest grade point average among all college students.

She did her master’s degree in commerce from Himachal Pradesh University.
She has also won best paper awards at various national and international conferences, as well as a gold medal (Prof Manubhai Shah Award) at the ICA Conference. She earned her BCom from Delhi University's Janki Devi Memorial College.
The Delhi mayor election had been a shambles, with three attempts to elect the mayor failing.
Shelly Oberoi joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2013 and served as the party's vice president for women until 2020.
