Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni, Union Minister of State for Home, filed nomination papers for the Kheri Lok Sabha seat on Thursday, the first day of the fourth phase of the elections. Notably, Ajay Mishra Teni is the father of Ashish, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Ajay Mishra Teni files nomination from Lakhimpur Kheri Lok Sabha seat

PTC News Desk: Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni, Union Minister of State for Home, filed nomination papers for the Kheri Lok Sabha seat on Thursday, the first day of the fourth phase of the elections. Notably, Ajay Mishra Teni is the father of Ashish, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Naresh Singh Bhadauriya, an independent candidate, also filed nominations for the Kheri seat during the day.


Ajay Mishra Teni visited the collectorate with BJP district president Sunil Singh, Lakhimpur BJP MLA Yogesh Verma, and others to submit his nomination papers to the returning officer.

The election for this seat will be held on May 13.

Ajay Mishra Teni won the seat twice: in 2014 and 2019. For the third time in a row, he is fighting from his seat.

Lakhimpur Kheri violence

Ajay Mishra's son Ashish is serving a jail term for the killing of four farmers and a local journalist during a protest against three farm laws that have since been repealed. He is currently on bail in this case.
