The BJP-led NDA is putting up a tough fight in Bihar’s Bhojpur region, which is usually seen as an RJD stronghold. Early counting shows the NDA leading in 21 out of 49 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan is ahead in 17 seats. In the 2020 election, the Mahagathbandhan had clearly dominated this area, making this shift notable.
As counting for the crucial Bihar assembly election began at 8 am on Friday, early trends showed the Nitish Kumar-led NDA taking a lead over the opposition Mahagathbandhan.
Most exit polls had already predicted an advantage for the NDA, making this one of the most closely followed elections in Bihar in recent years. The outcome will decide the future of 2,616 candidates contesting from 243 seats.

Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary is currently leading in Tarapur.

Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 LIVE: The counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 began at 8 am on Friday across 46 counting centres spread over 38 districts, under the supervision of the Election Commission (EC). The outcome will determine whether Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retains power with the NDA alliance, or if Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan (MGB) stages an upset.
The EC has implemented two-tier security at all centres — paramilitary forces guarding the inner zone and state police securing the outer layer. CCTV surveillance and video recording are in place, with central observers monitoring the process. Over 7.4 crore voters cast ballots this election, marking a record 67% turnout, deciding the fate of 2,600 candidates across 243 Assembly seats.
The NDA, comprising JD(U), BJP, LJP (RV), HAM(S), and RLM, enters counting day with confidence after exit polls projected it leading with 121–141 seats, while the MGB was estimated to get 98–118 seats. However, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed exit poll predictions, claiming his alliance will form the next government and urging supporters to stay vigilant during counting.
