Cash-for-query: BJP hails suspended Congress MP Preneet Kaur for voting in favour of Mahua Moitra's expulsion
PTC Web Desk: In a notable development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has praised suspended Congress MP Preneet Kaur for her principled stance against TMC MP Mahua Moitra during the recent proceedings of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee. The committee adopted its report on the cash-for-query allegation, and Perneet Kaur's decision to vote against Moitra has earned her appreciation.
"(Congress MP) Preneet Kaur sided with the truth. I thank her for it. No right-thinking person would support Mahua Moitra," BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi told ANI.
Nishikant Dubey, another BJP MP, highlighted suspended Congress MP Preneet Kaur's commitment to national security, emphasising that she did not compromise on this crucial aspect. In a tweet
in Hindi, Dubey underscored Punjab's historical commitment to India's identity and national security.
He also acknowledged the steadfast stance of Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress party MP Preneet Kaur, stating that they did not compromise with national security. He concluded the tweet with an expression of gratitude to these individuals as true defenders of the nation.
The backdrop of this development includes a complaint lodged by Dubey with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla last month. The complaint alleged that Mahua Moitra had accepted expensive gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for sharing her parliamentary login credentials. Dubey claimed that the businessman utilised Moitra's account to pose questions against the Adani Group.
