Israel-Hamas conflict: NCP chief Sharad Pawar invites wrath over comments on India's Israel stance

New Delhi, October 19: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar is currently embroiled in a political controversy due to his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support for Israel in their conflict with the Hamas. In response to Pawar's remarks, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a provocative comment, suggesting that it appears as if Sharad Pawar might send his daughter Supriya Sule to Gaza to support Hamas.

The political dispute surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict intensified as leaders from different political parties expressed varying perspectives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with Israel in the face of rocket attacks by Hamas, stating that India's thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families.

Earlier, expressing solidarity with Israel over the rocket strikes launched by Hamas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on October 7 that India's thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed disappointment with Sharad Pawar's statements, emphasising the need to condemn terrorism worldwide and highlighting Pawar's significant government roles during critical security incidents. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated India's consistent stance against terrorism and called on Sharad Pawar to take a similar stand.

In a recent gathering of party workers in Mumbai, Sharad Pawar noted the contrast between Prime Minister Modi's support for Israel and the historical stance of former Indian Prime Ministers in support of Palestine. This has sparked a heated debate on India's position regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.
