NDA meeting updates | A crucial meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in Delhi on Wednesday.

  • NDA leaders unanimously elect Narendra Modi as their leader in the proposal passed by the leaders of the NDA in Delhi.
  • The meeting was attended by BJP president JP Nadda, BJP leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, BJP's allies including Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy, Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Praful Patel among others.
  • Leaders from Shiv Sena, LJP, JDS, RLD, Jansena, UPPL, HAM, ZPM, SKM, Apna Dal, AGP, AJSU, NCP, TDP, and JDU were in attendance.
  •  Discussions were held on the government formation by the NDA. According to sources, PM Modi will take the oath for the third time on June 8.
  • In a significant development, Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu have submitted letters of support during the NDA meeting held at Prime Minister Modi's residence

  • This time, the BJP fell 32 seats short of the majority mark of 272 and will need to rely on its allies to form a government.
  •  President Droupadi Murmu dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha on Wednesday after the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.
  • The allies of the NDA to meet President Droupadi Murmu. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union HM Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda will together discuss the formation of the government with the allies

Earlier in the day, PM Modi tendered his resignation along with his Council of Ministers to President Murmu. The President accepted the resignation and requested that the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers continue until the new government assumes office.

The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, defying all predictions and posing stiff competition to NDA (292).
