Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Ghulam Nabi Azad to contest from Anantnag-Rajouri seat

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will contest from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat in Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Azad will run for election as the candidate of his Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), which he founded in 2022 after leaving the Congress after nearly 50 years.


"Chairman DPAP, Ghulam Nabi Azad sahib, will be contesting from the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. This decision was made in today's DPAP working committee meeting," Salman Nizami, the party's spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, a member of the opposition alliance INDIA bloc, picked veteran politician Mian Altaf Ahmad as its candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency.
