Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Google Doodle marks 5th phase of polling
Lok Sabah Elections 2024: Google Doodle on Monday celebrated the continuation of India's democratic exercise with a symbolic gesture of an inked index finger, indicating the fifth phase of voting in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
Google launched the doodle on its homepage, substituting its distinctive logo with a picture of a raised index finger inscribed in ink, a symbol associated with the democratic process of Indian elections.
By clicking on the Doodle, users are brought to search results for the most recent developments on India's 18th general elections.
Lok Sabha elections phase 5:
On Monday, voting in 49 constituencies across eight states and union territories in the fifth of seven phases of India's 18th Lok Sabha election began. Union minister Smriti Irani, who is running for a second term in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, union ministers Rajnath Singh (Lucknow) and Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North), and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (Rae Bareli) are among the prominent candidates in this phase.
Overall, there are up to 695 candidates running in these 49 constituencies, with over 89.5 million people eligible to vote.
The following states and union territories are holding elections in the fifth phase: Jharkhand (3), Odisha (5), Uttar Pradesh (14), Bihar (5), Maharashtra (13), West Bengal (7), Ladakh (1), and Jammu and Kashmir (1).
