Lok Sabha elections: PM Modi promises statehood, Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that that the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir would be reinstated soon, with the Assembly elections to follow.
Speaking at a public rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "The time is not far when the Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir will regain its status as a state. You will have the opportunity to share your aspirations with your MLA and ministers."
PM Modi added that the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the region would proceed without concerns about terrorism, strikes, stone-pelting, or cross-border violence. "Please trust me, I will eliminate the challenges that have plagued Jammu and Kashmir for the past 60 years. The region has undergone significant transformation in the last decade," he said.
During the rally, Modi also emphasised his success in resolving long-standing issues in Jammu and Kashmir and challenged the opposition, including Congress, to reverse the abrogation of Article 370.
The Prime Minister sought votes for BJP candidates from Udhampur and Jammu, Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore, respectively, stating that that the upcoming elections would ensure a strong government at the Centre to address national challenges effectively. Udhampur is set to vote in the upcoming elections on April 19.
