10 days on, Punjab’s Patiala district sans Civil Surgeon
Patiala, December 11: Although, Punjab Government is constantly making promises on
the growth and development of state, but on the other hand Punjab Government
lapse in the appointment of civil surgeon of Patiala, whose post is vacant
since 10 days.

As present, Dr Sandeep Kaur has been given the additional
charge as Patiala’s Civil Surgeon as the Health Department could not shortlist
a candidate for appointment as a regular Civil Surgeon.
color:#313131">Sources said following the delay in appointing a civil surgeon,
pendency at the Patiala Civil Surgeon office has gone up and many key projects
and files are pending for a decision.
There has been a delay in documents of birth and death
registration, delay in payments of medical bills and the online portal is also
getting affected.
Meanwhile, Dr Varinder Kumar Garg, an eye specialist, was
appointed the Civil Surgeon. He remained on the post for only 21 days and
retired on November 30.
Before this, Dr Raju Dhir, the Civil Surgeon retired on
October 31 after six months.
