12-year-old boy dies in accidental firing at home in Punjab's Ferozepur
PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy succumbed to gunshot injury to the head after a loaded pistol fell and went off in Punjab's Ferozepur district, police said.
The boy, a class 8 student, was first rushed to a private hospital for treatment and later referred to DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, in critical condition.
According to the police, the tragic incident unfolded when the boy went to his room to change clothes after returning from school. During the shuffling of clothes, he discovered the pistol lying inside the cupboard and he accidently pressed the trigger, leading to firearm discharge.
The bullet struck the boy on his head and he was immediately rushed to a private hospital. Further doctors referred him to Ludhiana for advanced medical care and but he succumbed to injuries, the officials added.
“All aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined and appropriate action will follow,” Manjit Singh, SP (Investigation), Ferozepur, said.
