AAP leader Kunal Dhawan named in fraud worth Rs 24.68 lakh

Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party leader Kunal Dhawan seems to be in trouble as police has named Kunal Dhawan in the fraud of Rs 24.68 lakh. The police of Ferozepur city police station have registered a case against leader Kunal Dhawan of Amritsar Constituency (East) and his three associates on charges of fraud and forgery. The accused made a deal with Aarti Harnam Singh and his associates to give peas worth 31.68 lakhs to the party in Delhi in the year 2020.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kunal Dhawan paid Rs 7 lakh out of the said amount. After this, he stopped picking up the phone of the aartis. A few days ago, Ferozepur police named Kunal Dhawan, a resident of Basant Avenue in Delhi, Rajiv Kumar, Sarkad Ahmed, a resident of Gurgaon in Haryana, Reeva Shankar, a resident of Mohan Nagar in UP, in the FIR. Harnam Singh told the police that he has a presence in the market of Ferozepur and deals in various types of vegetables. On March 15, 2020, Kunal Dhawan, a resident of Delhi's Basant Kunj, came to him along with his partner Rajeev Saini and asked for a deal to send a large quantity of peas to Delhi.

The accused demanded 8 carts of peas. The complainant said that they had sent 290, 400, 369, 426, 508, 114 and 424 sacks in trucks at different times. In compensation, the accused had to pay a total of 31 lakh, 68 thousand 200 rupees. On the complainant's repeated demands for money, the accused paid a total of Rs 7 lakh and later stopped picking up their phones. According to the FIR, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kunal Dhawan and his three associates had been sent summons on 29 June 2022, 11 July, 19 July and 4 August so that they could appear before the investigating officer regarding the said complaint and give their answer but the accused did not appear.
