Akal Takht, SGPC release Nanakshahi calender for Sammat 557
PTC News Desk: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on Thursday released the Nanakshahi calender for Sammat 557 (2025-26) in presence of Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and representatives of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Meanwhile Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has appealed the Sikh community to celebrate and observe all the religious occasions as per the Nanakshahi calender in order to maintain unity and uniformity.
This year’s calendar marks the 350th anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Gurta-Gaddi Diwas and the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his fellow Sikhs—Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji.
Akal Takht Jathedar has ordered the SGPC’s Dharam Parchar Committee (DPC) and 'parcharaks' to ensure the availability of the Akal Takht approved SGPC calendar at every gurdwara in both urban and rural areas.
SGPC Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan asserted that the Nanakshahi year begins with the month of chet. He also congratulated the Sikh community on the upcoming Sammat 557.
