Amritsar: House owner burnt alive as massive fire engulfs house at Race Course Road; short circuit suspected

PTC Web Desk: A tragic incident was reported early this morning at Race Course Road, Amritsar, when a massive fire broke out in Kothi No. 116, claiming the life of the house owner. The deceased has been identified as Kiran Ahuja (52), who reportedly succumbed to suffocation after attempting to control the blaze.

According to initial information, the fire broke out around 9 am, allegedly due to an electrical short circuit. Ahuja, who was engaged in the wholesale cosmetics business, made efforts to douse the flames but was overwhelmed by heavy smoke inside the house.


Fire brigade teams reached the spot promptly and managed to bring the fire under control after nearly one-and-a-half hours of operation. Police personnel also arrived at the scene and are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.

Other family members present in the house were rescued safely. The police said the family is still in a state of shock and not in a condition to speak.
