Yet another murder in Punjab: Youth brutally killed in broad daylight at Mansa bus stand; law and order collapses in state
PTC Web Desk: Amid growing concerns over poor law and order in Punjab, incidents of violent crime continue to surface with alarming regularity. Criminals appear to be acting without fear of the law, as yet another brutal murder has shaken the state. The latest incident has been reported from Mansa district, where a 20-year-old youth was beaten to death in a public place over an alleged personal rivalry.
The incident took place at the Budhlada bus stand, where the victim, identified as Jashandeep Singh, was attacked by a group of youths. According to preliminary information, Jashandeep had gone to Budhlada with a friend to purchase items for his birthday celebrations when the assailants allegedly attacked him from behind and fled the scene after the assault.
Jashandeep was rushed to the Civil Hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The victim’s father, Mewa Singh, said his son worked as a tattoo artist and had no immediate disputes on the day of the incident. He alleged that the murder was carried out due to an old personal enmity. “My son had gone out only to buy birthday-related items. He was surrounded and mercilessly beaten, then left half-dead,” he said.
Following the incident, police teams reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Officials said multiple teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest. “Efforts are on to identify the attackers and they will be apprehended soon,” a police official stated.
The incident has once again raised serious questions about public safety and policing in Punjab, especially as violent crimes continue to occur in crowded public areas without deterrence.
