Chandigarh horror: Woman slams Uber after driver leaves her injured daughter trapped following accident

PTC News Desk: A woman from Chandigarh has raised serious questions about Uber’s safety after an Uber driver allegedly left her injured daughter alone following a major car accident. Shilpa Arora, Co-founder and COO of Insurance Samadhan, shared the incident on LinkedIn, asking why the company was not taking responsibility.

In her post titled “Where is Uber’s Responsibility?”, Arora said her daughter was on her way to college in an Uber when the car crashed near Mohali at around 7:52 am. The crash was so severe that the airbags deployed immediately. While the driver escaped unharmed, the children sitting in the back were trapped and hurt. Shockingly, Arora claimed that the driver walked away from the scene instead of helping, leaving bystanders to rescue the injured passengers.

“She was taken to Fortis Mohali hospital — not by Uber or the driver, but by strangers who showed more humanity than the system,” Arora wrote.

She added that Uber never called to check, no police report (FIR) was filed, and no one from the company investigated why the ride never reached its destination. “If Uber claims safety is their top priority, do they not get alerts when one of their cabs crashes?” she questioned.

Arora and her husband rushed from Delhi to Mohali after hearing about the accident, describing their feelings as “helpless, angry, and heartbroken.” She demanded that Uber must take responsibility — not just for her daughter, but for every parent who trusts the service with their child’s safety.

“Can we really leave our children in the hands of strangers while companies simply walk away from responsibility?” she asked.

She ended her post by saying her main focus now is her daughter’s recovery, but she will continue to seek accountability from Uber until justice is served.
