Free coaching supported by Young Progressive Sikh Forum, Sankalp empowers 18 students for Civil Services
PTC Web Desk: Young Progressive Sikh Forum's (YPSF) vision of empowering meritorious yet economically weak students from Punjab and Haryana has finally borne fruit as 18 young aspirants are all set to appear for the prestigious Civil Services examination.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Young Progressive Sikh Forum (YPSF), in association with Sankalp Institute, has provided comprehensive support to deserving students, ensuring financial constraints do not hinder their dreams of serving the nation.
Prabhleen Singh, a key figure in the YPSF, said in 2013, they had envisioned a programme that would uplift bright students from underprivileged backgrounds by offering them the resources and mentorship needed to crack the Civil Services examination. "Our dream was to nurture talent irrespective of financial limitations. India’s talent should not go unrecognised due to a lack of resources. Our aim was to contribute to the nation by empowering these students," Prabhleen said.
He said bringing together like-minded individuals under the Young Progressive Sikh Forum, the initiative took its first concrete step in 2023. The students selected through a rigorous test were provided free lodging, food, and complete sponsorship for their training. Over the past two years, the candidates underwent intensive coaching, mentorship, and regular assessments to ensure their success in the competitive examination.
Sarabjit Kaur, a student from a village in Bathinda, expressed her gratitude for the life-changing opportunity. "I feel truly blessed. I am deeply thankful to YPSF for providing us scholarships and to Sankalp Institute for their invaluable guidance and coaching. This initiative has given us hope and the tools to achieve our dreams."

During Ardas Samagam (prayer ceremony) held to seek blessings for the students' success, Harpreet Singh Sahni, a core member of YPSF and Channel Head, PTC News, shared his views. "We carefully selected meritorious students, adopted them into the programme, and provided them with everything they needed—from coaching to daily necessities. Seeing this batch ready to take on the examination fills us with immense pride. We are hopeful they will excel and contribute meaningfully to society."
The initiative has received widespread appreciation, with several dignitaries extending their support. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the ceremony and conveyed his best wishes to the students, applauding YPSF's efforts in shaping future leaders.
